Find parts by Serial Number
You might be looking for a serial number for your Briggs & Stratton engine. It's only recently that Briggs & Stratton have used serial numbers, instead Briggs & Stratton have always used a Model, Type and Code numbering system.
In order to correctly identify your Briggs engine and find the parts diagrams, you will need your Model and Type numbers.
If you don’t already know the Model and Type numbers of your engine, you can find them stamped either on the blower housing, muffler heat shield or above the spark plug. On more recent models these numbers may be stamped into the body of the engine.
Once you have these numbers you can enter it into the Model Search on our online Briggs & Stratton parts catalogues. This will find the diagram for your engine which will clearly show you all the spare parts, prices and availability for your engine as well as allowing you to order within a few clicks.
As well as the Model and Type numbers, your engine will also have a Code. This is used to differentiate small modifications to engines over time, which may change the part required. These will be displayed on the parts diagram. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you’re unsure.
