Recommendations
When buying a chainsaw, buy a saw that suits your type of use. Chainsaws are generally categorised as homeowner, semi-professional or professional models. This categorisation is used to give a very broad overview of the power and performance you can expect from any given model. Having decided what category of chainsaw you need, choose a model that is the right size for the wood you want to cut on a regular basis. Do not buy bigger than you need.
Keep in mind that when you buy a chainsaw you will need two-stroke oil for a petrol powered saw, chain oil and a filing kit to keep the chain sharp. Chainsaw sharpening is a regular maintenance task. A blunt chainsaw is dangerous and will lead to you having to replace your guide bar and chain prematurely.
Personal handover
We will hand over a chainsaw in a condition that is ready for you to use. We will take the time to explain how to put fuel into a petrol chainsaw, how and when to fill up with chain oil and how to keep your chainsaw sharp. We will explain the safe starting practices and offer basic guidance on using and maintaining your new chainsaw.
Safety Notice
We strongly recommend that chainsaw personal protective equipment be worn at all times whilst working with or around a chainsaw. Properly fitting personal protective equipment that meets the latest standards offers the best protection against personal injury. However, no protective equipment can provide total protection against injury and therefore protective equipment should not be used as a substitute for operating a chainsaw in accordance with the instructions and safe operating practices. We are happy to offer advice on personal protective equipment.
