The recommended battery for the BGA86 is the AP300S, which provides up to 150 minutes of run time. As part of the STIHL AP System, the BGA86 is compatible with the full range of AP batteries. Maximum working times (based on lowest setting) are:

• AP20 - up to 81 minutes (standard mode) and up to 14 minutes (boost mode)
• AP200S - up to 105 minutes (standard mode) and up to 18 minutes (boost mode)
• AP30 - up to 144 minutes (standard mode) and up to 25 minutes (boost mode)
  
• AP300S - up to 150 minutes (standard mode) and up to 26 minutes (boost mode)
