The 405XE NERA has a choice of installation methods:

The mower can operate automatically while you're at work, during the day or at night, allowing your lawn to be maintained without you needing to be present.

The 405XE NERA is also designed to operate quietly, producing a perceived sound level of just 60 dB(A). This makes it suitable for regular mowing without the noise associated with conventional petrol lawnmowers.

One of the key features of the 405XE NERA is EdgeCut technology. An additional cutting disc helps the mower get closer to lawn edges, significantly reducing the amount of manual trimming required after mowing. This saves time and helps create a neat finish around the perimeter of your lawn.

The 405XE NERA also features intelligent object detection and avoidance, helping the mower identify objects in its path and navigate around them rather than simply colliding with them. This is particularly useful for gardens where toys, garden furniture and other temporary objects may be left on the lawn.

The electric cutting-height adjustment allows the cutting height to be adjusted between 20 and 55 mm, making it possible to tailor the mowing height to your lawn and the season.

The 405XE NERA can also use Automower® Zone Control through the Automower® Connect app. This allows you to create different work areas and temporary stay-out zones, giving you greater control over where and when the mower operates.

Husqvarna's systematic mowing capability allows the 405XE NERA to mow in organised patterns rather than relying solely on its traditional irregular mowing pattern. When used with compatible wire-free installation, systematic mowing increases the working area capacity to 900 m² and can produce patterned finishes across the lawn.

The Automower® Connect app allows you to monitor and control the 405XE NERA from your smartphone. Depending on the installation and connectivity setup, the mower supports Bluetooth®, Wi-Fi and mobile connectivity, allowing you to send commands, adjust settings and receive mower notifications remotely.

The 405XE NERA continuously cuts small amounts of grass rather than removing large quantities at once. The fine clippings are left on the lawn where they can break down naturally and return nutrients to the soil, helping maintain a healthy and well-maintained lawn.

An integrated security system helps protect the mower against theft. The 405XE NERA features GPS theft tracking, PIN-code protection, a lift sensor and a tilt sensor. If the mower is lifted unexpectedly, its safety system responds accordingly and the cutting system stops.

Installation Options

Traditional Wired Installation

If you choose a traditional installation, a boundary wire needs to be installed around the perimeter of the lawn and around areas that you don't want the mower to enter, such as flower beds and ponds.

The boundary wire can be installed either on or just below the lawn surface. Once installed, the Automower® 405XE NERA detects the wire and uses it to remain within the designated mowing area.

Please note: An appropriate Automower® Installation Kit must be purchased separately for a wired installation.

Wire-Free EPOS™ Installation

Alternatively, the 405XE NERA can be installed without a physical boundary wire by adding the optional Husqvarna EPOS™ Plug-in. This allows virtual boundaries to be created through the Automower® Connect app, giving you greater flexibility when defining the mowing area and creating temporary stay-out zones.

For the EPOS™ system, the mower uses satellite positioning technology together with correction data to achieve highly accurate positioning. An EPOS™ reference station can provide approximately 2–3 cm positioning accuracy where required, although the installation needs suitable satellite visibility and positioning conditions.
