Product Details & Features
The Stihl RLA240 is a cordless scarifier with a 13” (34cm) working width that is ideal for removing thatch and moss from smaller lawns.
Like most scarifiers, the RLA240 is hand propelled but by reason of the scarification action, very little effort is needed to operate this machine.
Two scarification systems are included with the RLA240. A 16-blade reel is supplied for heavier thatch and moss removal and to improve lawn aeration. For lighter, more frequent use, a spring tine reel is provided to gently comb dead grass and moss from your lawn.
Both reels achieve a +/- 7.5mm working depth. The working depth is adjusted by an infinitely variable dial on the body of the scarifier allowing you to set the most suitable scarifying depth for the conditions and to compensate for blade wear.
The RLA240 is supplied with a 50-litre catcher bag as standard.
When the scarifying is done, the handles can be folded in two places for easy storage.
Power is provided by a 36 volt lithium-ion battery from Stihl’s AK range.
The battery and charger are sold separately. Stihl recommend the AK20 battery and AL101 charger with the RLA240 scarifier.
Maximum scarifying capacities in reasonable / average conditions are:-
- RLA240 with AK10 battery 96m2
- RLA240 with AK20 battery 190m2 (recommended combination)
- RLA240 with AK30 battery 250m2
Scarifying Blades
16 sharp scarifying blades perform effective scarification.
Spring Tine Reel
The RLA240 also comes supplied with a de-thatching reel with spring tines, which can be easily installed in place of the scarifying blades. The reel will remove surface moss and lawn thatch without cutting your turf.
Depth Control
Easily adjust the working depth of the blades through a control on the handlebar. Simply lower and raise the blades to suit the lawn conditions.
Z-fold Handle
The handle on the RLA240 can be easily folded for storing the machine in compact spaces.
50-litre Catcher Bag
The RLA240 is supplied with a 50-litre catcher bag to minimise the clean-up required after scarifying.
